The pen is crafted form olive wood to represent the artists paintbrush and has paint marks daubed upon it. Renoir used vibrant colours and rapid brushstrokes and the clip of the pen represents this with two gold coated brushes like those used by Renoir to create his masterpieces. The top of the cap is set with ultramarine precious resin around the Montblanc emblem. The cap top ring has 1874 engraved around it as this was the year Impressionists had their first exhibition and marks Impressionism as a movement in its own right. The solid 18ct yellow gold nib has two a fan with two tassels engraved on it in as a tribute to the accessory that is showcased in a lot of Renoirs works. As a tribute to Renoir’s drawing skills, a silverpoint tip made of sterling silver is integrated into the gold-coated cone as a tribute to Renoirs drawing skills.
