MontBlanc Writers Edition Homage To Jane Austin Limited Edition 1813 Fountain Pen, 130682
Montblanc has created the Writers Edition Homage to Jane Austen in celebration of one of English literature’s most famous authors. This limited edition pen is inspired by the picturesque landscape of Hampshire, where, from 1809, Jane Austen found the peace and inspiration she needed to be able to finish and publish her famous novels. The barrel of this enchanting pen is crafted from hornbeam wood which is a nod towards Jane Austin's love for her precious square piano she purchased upon moving to Chawton. The gold-coated cap, echoes the wall panelling and fireplace in Jane Austen’s home, and blends beautifully with the barrel. In honour of the novel, Pride and Prejudice, published in 1813, the cap ring is inscribed with the Roman numerals XXXIV. This number is symbolic of the chapter in which Mr Darcy proposes to Elizabeth Bennet. The words surrounding the mother of pearl MontBlanc emblem on the wooden inlay of the cap say "By a Lady" which is from the title page of her first novel Sense and Sensibility. The rhodium-coated clip is shaped like a braided cord with a drawstring closure, this is to resemble a pouch which would have been used to carry a mirror, powder and a handkerchief. The nib of the pen features a fine engraved silhouette of Jane Austen on the bicolour, solid 18ct gold nib. This stunning pen is a limited edition piece and is number 917 out of 1813 pieces.Â
